Hello Guys,
I found this Linux distribution specifically made for CAE design. It supposedly has the software packages available within it for FEA and CAD. I haven't gotten a chance to test it out, but maybe someone in the forum might be interested in this OS. Hope it helps someone, oh and if someone does try please post your comments about it in this thread. Thanks

interesting. i will take a look. thank you for the info.
The question is, how reliable are the free FEM codes?
It would be nice if someone who has used it would give a review of this.
...Yup... Nice distro but... there's no 64 bits support... trying the standalone salome meca in my 8.10 AMD64 randomly rebootsmy lappy, used to happen with the previous version of Salome meca under Ubuntu 7.10 x86-32...
This is why i like to compile my apps from source...

I'm just getting started using CAELinux(well, I've downloaded and installed it at least). I am having trouble following the tutorials: I suspect the tutorials are for earlier versions of the software. Of course having the software in French make the problems more challenging. Are there any US users of CAELinux on the 'board?

I tried it once and ran into some issues. That was long time back and did not have motivation to fix those myself. Summer is the time to test I guess.
