To change the color of arrow markers in Inkscape (I am using 0.47 windows), select the arrow and then

Extensions > Modify Path > Color Markers to Match Stroke.

This is the most convoluted way of changing color of an arrow marker. Why can't they add that option in the 'Fill and Stroke" window?
